NATIONAL ADOPTION MONTH #10FOR10 CHALLENGE

I always imagined someday having kids. When my husband and I married at 41 years old, we knew we would need help getting pregnant so we turned to one of Manhattan's finest fertility doctors.
After many unsuccessful attempts, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Even as I struggled through surgeries, chemotherapy, hair loss and reconstruction my focus remained on our commitment to having a family. It was the decision to adopt early in my treatment that provided a bright light at the end of this challenging tunnel.
The adoption process can seem daunting, and the wait, eternal. With the love and support of family and friends and unwavering faith, we filled out all the paperwork, got finger printed, had several homes studies, and a number of volunteers for letters of recommendation, each declaring what fabulous parents we would make and how deserving we were of God's most precious gift.
We have been blessed with two beautiful kids adopted at birth: a boy, now six years old and a little girl who is three. Our lives are forever changed for the better, knowing that we have been granted the opportunity to raise exceptional human beings, to give and receive love unconditionally and to be a family forever.
My hope is that through your donations, we can give the same opportunity to others.
For the last ten years, we have helped place children in permanent homes so they can grow up knowing the support and love of a family; so that they can receive the life-saving medical treatments they require; so that they can enjoy just being a carefree child. But for every family we help, there are 10 more we have to turn away. We can't help but think about the children and families we are not able to help; they are no less deserving.

Helpusadopt.org is a national 501(c)(3) financial grant program that helps couples/individuals (regardless of race, religion, gender, ethnicity, marital status or sexual orientation) with the cost of their adoptions by awarding grants up to $15,000. We support domestic, international and foster care adoptions and does not charge our applicants to apply. Since 2007, we have awarded 230 adoption grants totaling over $2 million.
